For over a month now, I’ve been committing to at least 7–8 hours of sleep a night. It’s been incredible—and frankly, life-changing. The problem is that it’s also a constraint that’s preventing a good amount of work from being accomplished.
Someone recently made the point to me that “death to self” includes sacrificing sleep much of the time. However, I’m adopting the perspective that God gave me this body with a need for a certain amount of sleep, and getting 8 hours isn’t fleshly—it’s God’s design and creation. It’s simply a constraint I’m meant to work within.
I also don’t have kids, so…
We’ll see how much my perspective changes then.
